Brookgreen Gardens
Located at 1931 Brookgreen Drive, Murrells Inlet, SC, 29576.
Brookgreen Gardens will stun you with its natural splendor and enchanted forests. From its beginning in 1931 when Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington created this non-profit outdoor museum with its majestic oaks and world-renowned sculpture it has been a place to restore your soul and renew your spirit. 2010 saw the debut of Whispering Wings Butterfly House featuring thousands of butterflies native to the Southeast and supports our mission to exhibit the animals and plants of the area. Brookgreen Gardens offers a selection of daily tours, programs and cruises on a pontoon boat and back-road excursions on the Trekker. Walk the historic Lowcountry Trail, then it's on to the Lowcountry Zoo where you can see native animals including alligators, eagles, owls, hawks, foxes, otters, wild turkeys, and deer in their natural habitats. Its beautiful gardens, rich historial sites, accredited zoo and gracious southern hospitality tempt you to return again and again.
